Meet The Team – SensETH

Hello, we are SensETH!
Fifteen students have joined forces to form this year’s SensETH team. Combining our diverse backgrounds in health sciences, biomedical engineering and physics, we are ready to represent ETH Zurich in the SensUs 2026 competition. What brings us together is our shared interest in cutting-edge research in the field of biosensors, as well as our eagerness to contribute to innovative technologies with high clinical relevance. On our journey with SensUs, we are keen to use and expand our current knowledge and present a Levodopa biosensor that could be translated to a wearable continuous monitor for Parkinson’s Disease Patients. We look forward to embracing the challenges ahead of us and growing both individually and as a team along the way!

Team Members

**Syrin El Korany**
Zurich-born with Egyptian roots, I’m pursuing my Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences and Technology and consider myself a “professional enabler.” I’m always in for a travel, all kinds of sports, and crafting. When I’m not on the move, I’m writing and resetting.

Fun Fact: I’ve been in an on/off relationship with Karate and I’m not quitting until that black belt is mine (only three belts to go).

**Arnas Jankauskas**
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences and Technology and am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Molecular Health Sciences. Originally from Lithuania, I grew up in Aargau (arguably the best canton in Switzerland). Outside of my studies, I enjoy breakdancing, playing at jazz jam sessions, and training in combat sports.

Fun fact: I’m a bit of a movie nerd.

**Quentin Pukall**
I’m a Zurich local wrapping up my Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences and Technology and starting a Master’s in Neuroscience next fall. I’m fascinated by the the mechanisms of sensorimotor control and driven by tech entrepreneurship to tackle translational challenges.
Outside the lab, I’m usually swimming in the river or picking up new hobbies, from ballet to spontaneous nature escapes.

**Álvaro Torrico Espiga**
I completed my BSc in Biomedical Engineering at UC3M and I’m currently pursuing an MSc in Health Sciences and Technology (Major: Medical Technology). I’m a bit of a jack of many trades with a soft spot for learning something new. I enjoy exploring different fields and travelling to new places, trying unfamiliar foods, and picking up sports along the way — whether it’s basketball, judo, or kayak polo.

**Sabina Zuliani**
I am currently pursuing my Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences and Technology.
Outside my studies, I love traveling the world, exploring new cultures, and trying new food. I also enjoy skiing, playing the violin and sailing. Beyond that, I’m particularly interested in medical technology, which is why I like being involved in extracurricular projects.

**Magdalena Wiśniowska**
I completed my BSc in Cognitive Science and Life Sciences and I’m currently pursuing an MSc in Health Sciences and Technology with a major in Neuroscience. I love dancing, hiking, practicing yoga, and staying active through different sports. Whenever I can, I try to spend as much time as possible in nature.

**Pascal Tschümperlin**
I studied Medical Engineering for my bachelor’s degree at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU) and I am now pursuing a master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering with a major in Bioimaging. I grew up in a small village in Schwyz, Switzerland. I spend a lot of my time doing sports, mainly climbing and cycling, and I’m also the president of my local cycling club.

Fun Fact: For a year, I competed in Kung Fu, where I became vice Swiss champion before deciding to stop competing.

**Shuqi Pang**
I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Physics at Jilin University in China and am now pursuing my Physics Master’s degree at the University of Zurich.
As a physicist, I am interested in translating physics principles into clinical applications and in exploring how AI can advance health technology.

Fun fact: I don’t like randomness.

**Sabine Palm**
I grew up as an EU child in The Hague (NL) and Brussels (BE) and moved to Zurich to pursue my passion in the natural sciences. Since I couldn’t decide for just one, I chose the degree with all of them. I have now found my love for biotechnology, which I am pursuing in my Master’s degree in Interdisciplinary Sciences.
My schedule is usually filled with all sorts of things – be it more research, skiing, entertaining Startup ideas with my friends or in my position of president of the Student Biolab Zurich.
Whenever ETH grants me some free time, I spend it trying to cook new food, traveling across the continent and creating art.

**Johanna Grimm**
I studied Biomedicine for my bachelor’s degree at the University of Zurich and I am currently pursuing a master’s degree in Health Sciences and Technology at ETH, with a major in Molecular Health Sciences.
I enjoy working toward a brighter future; whether through research in the lab, planting trees in Costa Rica, or participating in SensUs. In my free time, I like to dance, go horseback riding, and travel.

**Nerea López**
I completed my bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences and Technology and I am currently pursuing a master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering with a major in Biomechanics. I’m a proud generalist: consistently good at many things, rarely obsessed with being the absolute best at just one. Deep conversations about big questions come as naturally to me as planning the next trip.

Fun Fact: I enjoy bringing biomechanics out of theory and into motion; on a snowboard, a trampoline, a surfskate, or under a loaded barbell.

**Lucia Östergaard Frank**
I have Bachelor’s degree in Biology and am currently pursuing my Master’s degree in Biology specializing in Molecular Mechanisms of Disease.
I have an Argentinian and Danish nationality, but grew up in Germany. Outside of my studies, I play table tennis and am currently competing in the Swiss Women’s First National League. I also enjoy cooking, playing the piano and completing random side quests with friends.

Fun fact: midnight baking sessions are my version of meditation.
